Yahiko
Myojin
Age: 11
Fighting style: Kamiya Kasshin
Ryu
First appearance: Volume 1,
Episode 3An orphan reduced to
pickpocketing after a yakuza syndicate
forced him to repay his parents' debt,
Yahiko Myojin found the courage to leave
the syndicate after a chance encounter
with Kenshin Himura. Now, he's training
under Kaoru as her first disciple, and
his samurai heritage shows in both his
pride and potential skill with the sword.
He longs for the day when he can help
others by himself, for to him that is the
day he is no longer a child...
Yahiko fills the requisite 'brat' role
in this series. However, you'll be hard-pressed
to find a brat that can kick this much
ass. Yahiko is driven to be strong, as
strong as Kenshin, his role model. Even
at the age of 11, he's more skilled with
the sword than most people, and he's
learning about his potential with the
sword which protects. Despite this, he
continues to try and improve his skill,
to the point of anguish (he won't settle
for being anything but Kenshin's level).
Someday, however, all of the potential he
shows will be fulfilled, and he will be
the most powerful swordsman in all Japan.
