Yahiko fills the requisite 'brat' role in this series. However, you'll be hard-pressed to find a brat that can kick this much ass. Yahiko is driven to be strong, as strong as Kenshin, his role model. Even at the age of 11, he's more skilled with the sword than most people, and he's learning about his potential with the sword which protects. Despite this, he continues to try and improve his skill, to the point of anguish (he won't settle for being anything but Kenshin's level). Someday, however, all of the potential he shows will be fulfilled, and he will be the most powerful swordsman in all Japan.
