It's impossible to sum up Megumi in a few words. The last of a long line of doctors, Megumi can be considered a war orphan, as she lost the rest of her family as they took the field as medics and were never seen again. Lost in both spirit and body, she drifted for a number of years before taking an apprenticeship under a doctor in Tokyo. Unfortunately, the doctor was secretly manufacturing opium on the side, and when he was killed over a special batch of Opium, his employer forced Megumi to make it for him. On one of her repeated attempts to run away, she encounters Kenshin, who then helps her win her freedom. Now, she works at the Oguni Clinic, helping save lives with her medicine as redemption for the lives she's taken with opium...

There's only one constant in Megumi's personality, and that is that she's deeply in love with Kenshin. But also she tends to be quite passionate in her actions. Whether she's sad, whether she's happy, whether she's angry...she will always speak with passion in her words. And her personality WILL change on the fly--such is the reason she's known as a megitsune, or 'fox woman.' And despite her love for Kenshin, or perhaps because of her love for Kenshin, she constantly tries to bring him and Kaoru together.
