So you want help on your ubercool Impro
debut but you don't know how? You've come to the right place! (One
of them, anyway.) Just come on in, look through these profiles
and pick who you need!
Just send me an e-mail at lawrence@sandwich.net and tell me your name, e-mail address (if the
address you sent me from is not the one you want to use), impros
you're offering to preread (and *star* the ones you WANT to
preread).
Or, if you're too lazy to do that, use the submission form that is currently under the key. We'll see how it
goes...
Updates:
May 16, 2001 - Added the Impro
Channel 5 winners to the list, and removed Slayers Glorious (one part
left). Will eventually remove other Hall of Fame-bound impros as well.
Nov 22, 2000 - Rearranged the
form a bit to make it easier for me to do the stuff I need to. For
instance, it's in the order of items in the prereader profile, as well
as having bold impros sorted from regular impros.
Nov 10, 2000 - Added some extra
boxes to the form. Since I'm no longer in the U.S. and I'm not on the
Internet all the time, I don't know who the newer chatroom regulars are.
Also, people are sending me alternate e-mail addresses, so I decided to
make that an official part of the form, too. And I changed the 'submit'
label. Don't kill me. ^_^;
Nov 8, 2000 - Removed Syrian Stories,
cleaned up some of the ending impros on Improfanfic and Madnesse. Since SV
has ended, removed that, too. This left Michelle Roya without anything to
preread, so I've commented her out. ^_^;
Updates are going to be used whenever either stories
end their runs or sites start up/close down, or when I make some changes to
the page itself (not the prereaders). Once a story or site ends its run,
that story/site will be removed from everyone's profiles. (Hopefully. ^_^;)
And when someone runs out of things to preread, I'll comment them out until
they submit another series of stories to preread. Here goes nothing.
^_^;
The Prereaders:
First, a rough format of what the entries

second e-mail)

The
Submissions Form:
Please keep in mind that you only
have to click on the button once. Don't worry if you don't get
any sort of response from the page.
One other thing: Please refrain
from writing more than or two short lines for your comments. More
than that and it becomes a manifesto. ^_^;
Other Places to Check Out:
Now that you have your prereaders, you don't
need anything else, right? Believe it or not, that's not true!
Most of the good writers out there use more than just prereaders,
be it through chat or on the Message Boards.
So here are other places that you'll want
to look at on your Quest to Write Better Impro (in No Particular
Order):
The Message Boards of your particular
impro site (be it Impro or one of the indies).
The Improfanfic Chat Room. Yes, a lot of the time it's
just us in our insane insanity, but if you ask for help on
any impro--ANY impro, chances are you'll have a number of
people willing to hear your ideas out. Server
irc.sandwich.net, channel #improfanfic.
If the impro you're writing for has a
mailing list (e.g. Ultra, H!flash), you've got a valuable
resource right there. Signing up gives you access to
people who are willing to listen, because they care about
the impro you're writing for, too. Most mailing lists in the
ImproCommunity are run by eGroups,
so check it out when you can and create an account with them.
Keep in mind that you might not be able to enter some groups
unless you're specifically in the queue (or have written for
it already).
ImproGuides
is run by David Menendez, where
more friendly faces you might recognize are willing to help
show you around Improfanfic and its affiliates.
This is just pointing you in the right
directions; you have to do the footwork yourself.
Acknowledgements:
Big thanks go to
Epsilon and Samantha Rodgers for suggesting this idea
in the first place. I can't say how much this will hopefully
change the way things are around here.
A hearty 'domo arigato
de gozaru oro?' to everybody on #impro
for pitching in and telling me what was wrong with the
page and everything. I got most of those bugs out real
quick thanks to them.
Thanks to everyone who
submits profiles and stuff to me. ^_^
And, of course, thanks
to everyone involved in Improfanfic and the indie sites
for coming up with such fun stuff in the first place.
